Kerem Çamsarı is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he leads the OPUS Lab (Orchestrating Physics for Unconventional Systems). He received his B.S. from Middle East Technical University in 2007 and his Ph.D. from Purdue University in 2015, where he subsequently served as a postdoctoral researcher before joining the UCSB faculty in 2020.

His research focuses on probabilistic computing, spintronics, and unconventional computing architectures that bridge emerging magnetic devices with algorithms and hardware for artificial intelligence and scientific computing. His work has contributed to the development of p-bits and p-circuits, probabilistic hardware inspired by statistical physics for solving challenging computational problems.

Prof. Çamsarı’s research has appeared in journals including Nature, Nature Electronics, Nature Communications, Science Advances, and Physical Review X. He has received several recognitions, including the IEEE Magnetics Society Early Career Award, the Bell Labs Prize, the ONR Young Investigator Award, and the NSF CAREER Award. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and previously served as an IEEE Magnetics Society Distinguished Lecturer.
