Hae-Young Kee

University of Toronto, Canada

Semi-Plenary Speaker

Hae-Young Kee is a Professor of Physics at the University of Toronto and a Canada Research Chair in Theory of Quantum Materials. Her research focuses on theoretical condensed matter physics and quantum materials, particularly strongly correlated quantum matter, quantum magnetism, unconventional superconductivity, and topological phases of matter.  Her work has established microscopic mechanisms underlying emergent phenomena in spin-orbit-coupled materials and has made major contributions to the understanding of Kitaev materials, multipolar physics, and unconventional superconductivity.

Prof. Kee is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, the American Physical Society, and the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR) Quantum Materials Program. Her other honours include the Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP) Brockhouse Medal for Excellence in Experimental or Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics, an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship, a Simons Emmy Noether Fellowship, and a Distinguished Fellowship of the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP). She serves on the IUPAP Commission on Structure and Dynamics of Condensed Matter (C10) and has contributed extensively to the international quantum materials community through scientific advisory committees, conference organization, and editorial leadership.
