Annica Black-Schaffer
Uppsala University, Sweden
Annica Black-Schaffer is a professor and head of the Quantum Matter Theory research program at Uppsala University, Sweden. She received her Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2009 and was subsequently a postdoctoral fellow at Nordita, the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, before joining Uppsala University. She is a Wallenberg Scholar, a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and has received both ERC Starting and Consolidator Grants. Her distinctions also include the Rudbeck Medal, the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Prize Sweden, and the Göran Gustafsson Prize for Young Researchers. Her research focuses on the theoretical understanding of quantum materials, with a particular focus on superconductivity and topological phases of matter. Her current work spans moiré materials, inhomogeneous systems, unconventional superconductors, and superconducting hybrid structures, using both analytical and computational approaches.
